Macon-Bibb zoning commission OKs rezoning near Pio Nono

Staff reportApril 28, 2014

The Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission approved Monday a request to rezone about 20 acres near Pio Nono Avenue at Interstate 75.

The approval to rezone 114 Trailer Park Drive from a two-family residential district to a commercial district essentially brings the zoning into conformity with how the property is actually being used.

It corrects the zoning of the existing mobile home park there.

The applicant, Ron Burger with Brazowa Krowa LLC, also got commission’s approval to allow recreational vehicles in one section of the property.

The commission’s staff previously agreed with the rezoning, and the commission followed suit.

“Staff is of the opinion that the proposal as submitted is in compliance with the overall land use pattern and would not adversely influence living conditions in the surrounding areas,” according to the report.

Jim Thomas, executive director of the planning and zoning commission, said none of the items on Monday’s agenda was contentious, and there was no opposition.

Other items on the agenda were:

1229 Rocky Creek Road: Conditional use to convert a dwelling into a church with variance in setback requirements, R-2 District. Eddie Thomas, applicant. Approved.

2257 Heath Road: Conditional use to allow platting of property prior to site plan approval, PDE District. Blalock Properties, applicant. Approved.
