The Medical Center of Central Georgia and its affiliates have until Wednesday to finalize a contract with Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Central Georgia Health System has come to an agreement with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia for both the physician and the hospital contracts, according to a news release.

Central Georgia Health System -- which includes The Medical Center of Central Georgia, The Medical Center of Peach County and the Central Georgia Rehabilitation Hospital -- has been at the center of the negotiations with the insurance provider.

The contract was set to expire at midnight Thursday, but a last-minute deal was reached that allows Blue Cross Blue Shield policyholders to use those hospitals at the in-network rate.
