Old Man Shoes and Some Kids at Roco’s (Bonaire)

Roco’s is a new night spot in Bonaire and they’ve booked a couple of Middle Georgia bands to help celebrate their grand opening. Old Man Shoes puts on a fun show, reaching deep into the tapes of their music collection and covering songs from the ’80s and ’90s that may have been forgotten. For this special night, they are bringing along another newly formed Middle Georgia band, Some Kids. Roco’s is located at 715B Ga. 96 in Bonaire. 21 and up. 9 p.m. $5.

Jimmy Hall’s Birthday Bash at Cox Capitol Theatre

Jimmy Hall’s Birthday Bash is a must-see event for fans of Southern rock, blues and soul. You never know who may show up for the party when Jimmy Hall books his band as Jimmy Hall and Friends. This year, he brings along special guests Lil Al’s Funk Soul Revival and Diane Durrett. Under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian. Doors open at 7 p.m. $20 and up.

Barnesville Barbecue and Blues Festival in downtown Barnesville

The Barnesville Barbecue and Blues Festival is celebrating its 10th year. The festival starts Friday and finishes up Saturday night. Saturday’s music lineup features the Melflames at 3 p.m., Veronika Jackson at 6 p.m., the Crossroads Blues Band at 7 p.m. and the Conquest Band closes the festival at 9:30 p.m. This is a family-friendly event. Free.

Mozart’s “Cosi Fan Tutte” at the Douglass Theatre

The Douglass Theatre is one of many theaters that show live simulcasts of the Metropolitan Opera’s performances. This Saturday they will show Mozart’s opera “Cosi Fan Tutte” featuring Susanna Phillips, Isabel Leonardo, Matthew Polenzani and Rodion Pogossov. The event starts at 12:55 p.m. Admission is $24 for adults; $20 for students and seniors. For more information, call 478-742-2000.

“American Idol Stars Celebrate Broadway” at the Grand Opera House

Are you a fan of “American Idol?” Are you also a fan of Broadway musicals? Well, this event is a dream come true for you as former contestants of “American Idol” sing favorites from some of the best musicals ever performed. You’ll see Jacob Lusk from Season 10, Karen Rodriguez from Season 8, Haley Scranto from Season 6 and Von Smith from Season 8. They will perform songs from “Jersey Boys,” “West Side Story,” “Mama Mia,” “Wicked” and more. 7:30 p.m. $35-$45.
