WARNER ROBINS -- A former radiology technician accused of improperly entering negative results for mammograms at Perry Hospital is expected to enter a negotiated plea agreement Tuesday.

Details of the agreement were not disclosed.

“It’s going to be our intention to enter a plea on some of these charges and try to resolve her case,” said Floyd Buford, her Macon attorney.

Rachael Michelle Rapraeger is accused of entering negative results for 1,289 mammograms at Perry Hospital from Jan. 22, 2009, to April 1, 2010, that were not read by a radiologist. Of those, 10 were actually positive, prosecutors have said. Perry Hospital is operated by Houston Healthcare System Inc.

Rapraeger was indicted on 10 felony counts of computer forgery and 10 counts of misdemeanor reckless conduct. She later entered a not guilty plea.

Rapraeger has been free on a $50,000 bond pending trial.

Houston County Chief Deputy Assistant District Attorney Dan Bibler also declined to discuss the details of the plea agreement prior to the hearing.

The hearing is set for 3 p.m. before Judge Katherine K. Lumsden in Houston County Superior Court.

At least two of the women named as victims in the indictment have since died. The family of a third woman not named as a victim in the indictment filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Bibb County Superior Court in relation to the allegedly botched mammograms.

About 20 other lawsuits have been filed in Superior Court and several others in Bibb County State Court in which Rapraeger and Houston Healthcare System were named. Some have settled out of court, with most pending.
