A Perry man was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday afternoon after washing his truck at a car wash.

The incident happened about 1 p.m. at Easy Clean Car Wash located at 1308 Main St., said Perry police Capt. Heath Dykes.

A 64-year-old man had just finished washing his Dodge Dakota when he was approached by a suspect described as a black male in his early 30s, between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall with a thin build. The suspect brandished a small-caliber handgun and demanded the victim’s wallet, Dykes said.

The suspect struck the victim multiple times in the head with the handgun and left with the truck after a scuffle. Later, officers found the truck abandoned at a nearby shopping center, but two firearms belonging to the victim and an undisclosed amount of money were missing.

The victim was taken to Perry Hospital, treated and released, Dykes said.
