A 17-year-old Central High School student faces criminal charges after he was found with a weapon on campus.

Bibb County jail records show the arrest of Ronnie Thomas, of a Plant Street address, shortly after 3:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Campus police located a teen with a knife with a 2-inch blade behind a Central High School building after responding to a report of a weapon on campus, said Stephanie Hartley, spokeswoman for the Bibb County school system.

Hartley could not confirm Thomas’ identity due to privacy concerns, but she was not aware of any other weapons arrest at Bibb schools Tuesday.

Thomas remained in jail Wednesday on charges of carrying a weapon within school safety zones and criminal trespass.
