Bibb County sheriff’s deputies say a pedestrian trying to cross Riverside Drive failed to use a crosswalk Tuesday afternoon and was hit by an SUV.

The accident happened about 4 p.m. near Spring Street in Macon, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Authorities took the victim, a 15-year-old from Macon, to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition, the release stated.

A 43-year-old Macon woman traveling westbound on Riverside in a Mercedes Benz SUV struck the teenager. Witnesses told deputies the SUV had a green light at the time of the accident. No charges were immediately filed.

The Bibb sheriff’s office reminds pedestrians to use crosswalks and always check traffic when crossing roads. Anyone with information regarding this accident is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500.
