Forecast: Minor Macon flooding expected until Thursday

The Ocmulgee River in Macon isn’t expected to drop below the flood stage until Thursday, the National Weather Service said.

The river is forecast to peak at about 19.2 feet Wednesday morning, about 1.2 feet above minor flood stage.

Heavy rains Monday brought the river from a height of about 7.3 feet.

The National Weather Service also is warning of flooding around the Echeconnee Creek near Bibb, Crawford, Houston and Peach counties, and Ocmulgee River flooding in Bibb, Houston, Jones, Monroe and Twiggs counties.

The National Weather Service forecasts that the Ocmulgee River will begin minor flooding this weekend in Abbeville.
