Bomb squad detonates a suspicious package at Macon airport

The TelegraphApril 5, 2014

The Bibb Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad detonated a suspicious package at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport Saturday morning.

Around 9:30 am, an employee of the car rental business at the airport told other airport officials about a lone, dark bag left at the main entrance to the airport.

A Bibb Sheriff’s Patrol Deputy immediately did a sweep of the building and moved people in the airport to what was considered a safe location

Once the Bomb Squad examined the bag they found no identification on it. They then used their remote control robot to secure the bag and ultimately detonated it. After detonation, the remains of the bag were examined. Officers concluded that the bag had not contained explosives.
