The College Hill Alliance announced Thursday that it’s one of 97 national finalists for a 2014 ArtPlace America grant to support creative placemaking.

The alliance proposal is requesting $60,000 for a Macon Maker Faire to create an example of 21st century community revitalization in Macon’s College Hill Corridor area. The event would feature the work of creative individuals from across Middle Georgia, as well as workshops, events and speakers that promote small-business development.

The alliance was one of 1,270 entities to apply for the grant. The grant winners will be announced in June.

Mercer University previously received an ArtPlace grant for the Tattnall Square Center for the Arts, which is scheduled to open this fall.
