Bibb school district draws 24 superintendent applications

The application window for the superintendent’s job with the Bibb County school system has ended, and 24 people applied for the position.

Out of those applicants, 18 are from Georgia and six are from out of state. Several of the applicants are former or current superintendents, school board member Lynn Farmer said Thursday.

“I’m very pleased with the experience of the applicants and their educational background,” Farmer said.

The next step is for the Georgia School Boards Association, which is conducting the search, to rank the applications and present them to the school board.

The school board will then decide how to proceed and how the community might be involved. The meeting has not yet been scheduled.

Steve Smith has been serving as the system’s interim superintendent since last spring.
