Macons Unionville neighborhood will be celebrated Saturday at Terminal Station.
Mount Vernon Baptist Church, which is organizing the event, will highlight the people and the values of Unionville, according to a news release.
Unionville, which has been plagued with violence and crime in recent years, has not been in a positive light lately, and the church will recognize positive accomplishments of people from Unionville.
Something needs to be done to show the present generation and let future generations know that Unionville was a wonderful place to live and grow up in, Nashera Pitts, charwoman of the program, said in the release. We need to recapture that spirit of community again.
Dorothy Johnson, the wife of honorary Unionville Mayor Frank Johnson, will be the keynote speaker at the event. The public is invited.
The program and dinner begins at 7 p.m. at Terminal Station. Tickets are $40.
