Jamael Malan Tyson

U.S. Marshals captured a Florida fugitive Thursday in a Helena shopping plaza.

Investigators learned Jamael Malan Tyson, 23, of Jacksonville, Fla., was believed to be hiding out with friends in Telfair County and officers arrested him without incident, according to a news release from the Telfair County Sheriff’s Office.

Tyson was charged with conspiracy to traffic cocaine in what authorities referred to as a large scale distribution ring.

He had been running from the law since his organization recently was taken down with nearly a dozen arrests.

Tyson’s bond was set for $1,000,000 and he remains in the Telfair County Jail awaiting extradition.
