TRICARE Service Center at RAFB to close

Staff reportMarch 27, 2014

WARNER ROBINS --TRICARE, the military’s health care program, is closing its service center at Robins Air Force Base beginning Tuesday.

The Robins center, which served as a customer service outlet, is one of 189 facilities military-wide that will end walk-in service, according to a base news release. Officials say the move is being driven by the advancement of online technology for consumers to manage their benefits.

Military-wide, the change is estimated to save about $250 million over the next five years, the release states.

TRICARE beneficiaries can manage their benefits at or call 800-444-5445 for assistance.
