Free credit scores, reports available during Macon financial fair Saturday

Staff reportMarch 25, 2014

There’s a Family Financial Wellness Fair on the Mercer University campus Saturday.

The university’s student chapter of the Financial Management Association and the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Middle Georgia are holding the fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the school’s University Center on campus.

The event is free and open to the public. The first 100 participants will receive a free credit report with their FICO credit score.

The goal of the fair is to support increasing personal financial stability for Middle Georgians, according to a statement from the college. During the fair, participants will have access to a variety of financial-related resources, from onsite programs and vendors. These include personal credit report analysis, financial seminars, tax advice and information on various governmental and community programs.

Representatives from several local credit unions and banks will be available to talk with participants about checking, savings and home financing needs.

There also will be activities available for children of all ages, and door prizes will be given away throughout the fair.
