An armed robber grabbed cash and two cases of beer from the Circle K at 4775 Chambers Road about 6:30 a.m. Friday.
Bibb County sheriffs deputies swarmed the area within minutes and began searching for the thief, who was dressed in shorts -- although the temperature was in the low 30s.
The gunman forced the female clerk behind the cash register, took the money and snatched the beer before running out the door, said Clay Williams, a public information officer for the Sheriffs Office.
I am a little scared, but Im OK, the clerk said after the ordeal.
The robber was described as a black man about 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds and wearing a long-sleeve black shirt, gloves and black tennis shoes.
Surveillance cameras captured images of the robber.
He had a do-rag covering his face, so all we get is a little shot of his eyes, Williams said.
Technicians will try to enhance the images to see if they can spot any other identifying marks, such as tattoos, Williams said.
The inside of the store was closed for two hours, but customers with credit cards were still pumping gas outside of the crime scene tape.
One woman, who had only cash, left for another store after learning of the robbery.
Gosh, its getting bad, she said. Im getting scared to even go in a store. I might be in there when theyre getting robbed.
A Bibb CSI technician dusted the front door for fingerprints as other officers searched motels near Interstate 475.
