The Ocmulgee Heritage Trail will be closed until at least noon Wednesday because of flooding, Macon-Bibb County spokesman Chris Floore said in a statement.

The Ocmulgee River is causing minor flooding, leading to a flood warning for Bibb, Houston, Jones, Monroe and Twiggs counties. The river is forecast to drop below flood stage on Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service said the river peaked at 18.18 feet, about two inches above the minor flood stage, in Macon.

The river is forecast to peak at 19.6 feet in Hawkinsville on Saturday night, several inches below the flood stage of 20 feet.

The National Weather Service doesn’t expect any rain in Macon until at least Saturday, which will have a 20 percent chance of rain.
