The Peach County school board approved a school calendar for the 2014-2015 academic year at its regular meeting last week.
Classes will begin Aug. 8 and end May 22, 2015. The only difference compared to this years calendar is the start day was moved up a week, Superintendent Joe Ann Denning said in an emailed statement.
At its next meeting on April 8, the board will consider revisions to the school systems standardized dress code.
Under the proposed code, cargo-style pants and khaki denim are in, while leggings and jean leggings, known as jeggings, are out. Unnatural hair coloring will be prohibited at the discretion of principals.
The consequences for violations also are revised under the proposed dress code. Instead of issuing hot pink zip ties for first offenders saggy pants, parents will be called. Instead of being issued school uniforms on second and third offenses, students will receive in-school and out-of-school suspensions, respectively.
On the fourth and subsequent offenses, a parent will have to accompany the student after a one day out-of-school suspension.
