A man was shot Saturday after getting into an argument in west Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

About 6:15 p.m. at the Villager Lodge at 5009 Harrison Road, 26-year-old Rodney Cooper Jr., of Macon, was arguing with 23-year-old Robert Hawkins, also of Macon, when Hawkins shot Cooper, according to a sheriff’s report.

Cooper received multiple gunshot wounds and was listed in stable condition Sunday at The Medical Center of Central Georgia, the sheriff’s report said.

Hawkins left the scene before deputies arrived, and, after receiving a tip, deputies found him at a motel in the Eisenhower Parkway and Harrison Road area. Hawkins was charged with one count of criminal attempt to commit murder and was transported to the Bibb County jail.
