Traffic delays expected on I-75 in Macon

Traffic is expected to slow on Interstate 75 on Saturday as crews test the smoothness of the pavement as it approaches the bridges in north Macon.

Local drivers might want to use Riverside Drive to avoid the delays.

Between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., crews will be pacing traffic along the bridges and overpasses from Arkwright Road to Pierce Avenue, according to a news release from the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Work will begin in the southbound lanes and continue in the northbound lanes.

Six instances of traffic pacing are expected to take 10 to 12 minutes, with local law enforcement helping direct motorists.
