Humane Society seeks donations

The Humane Society of Houston County is seeking donations to help care for its animals.

Requested items include any brand of liquid laundry detergent, dryer sheets, paper towels, disinfectant wipes, disinfectant spray, clumping cat litter, kitchen trash bags, hand soap, large and medium storage bins with sealed lids, metal or stainless steel dog and cat feeding bowls, dog bones, and small and medium bath mats. Gift cards to Wal-Mart, PetSmart and Kroger also are requested.

Items may be delivered to the shelter at 810 Carl Vinson Parkway in Centerville. Donations are tax deductible.

Woman wins $1,000 at Piggly Wiggly

Judy Williams won $1,000 in cash from the Piggly Wiggly on North Houston Road in Warner Robins while playing the store’s Dash For Cash scratch-off game, according to a company news release.

Piggly Wiggly customers have a chance to win up to $297,000 in cash and prizes during the promotion. To enter, shoppers can pick up a free Dash For Cash card at their local Piggly Wiggly. The cashier will validate shoppers’ purchases with the card and after filling it, the store manager will remove the seal to reveal a prize, the release states.

Prizes range from $1 to $1,000, and every card is a winner, the release states.

MOAA meeting planned

The Middle Georgia Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America will meet at 6 p.m. March 14 at The Landings restaurant. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP to twaugh5@cox.net by 6 p.m. Sunday.
