For someone that had such a rough beginning in life, I think I must be the luckiest boy alive. I never dreamed I could have a life this magical.

I have been blessed during my life more than I ever could imagine. That is never more apparent to me than when I have a special event and the community comes out en masse to support my group, Central Georgia CARES and me.

My fifth birthday party, AC Pupfest, held last Saturday at Georgia Industrial Children’s Home, was no exception. CARES is honored to have a relationship with the folks at the home and some CARES board members have even spent time with the kids making art projects and crafts. So having my birthday party on their beautiful campus was a real treat for us.

My birthday party was so much fun. I am so humbled by the enormous turnout. The parking area at the home was packed as families poured into the party.

And what a family friendly event it was! Our title sponsor, Geico, had tons of kids’ activities in their tent. We had kids flying kites in the field, learning the hula-hoops, blowing bubbles and making crafts. Of course there were kids playing with puppies, as most kids love to do and all puppies certainly love too.

Our incredible rescue groups turned out in full force too as they usually do, bringing their adorable pets for adoption. Middle Georgia is so fortunate to have dedicated rescue groups. These devoted people routinely put their hearts on the line to save animals. They save hundreds of companion animals a year and give them a second chance at life.

We asked you to bring a bag of pet food for us to share and our truck was groaning from the weight of your generosity. Because of you, we were able to share with all the nonprofit rescue groups at the party. Thank you for helping to feed those pets that are hoping for families of their own to love.

I’m also very grateful to the media for not only the advance coverage of my party but also for attending. You are consistently supportive of CARES and so very helpful in promoting animal welfare in our community. You play such a vital part of sharing an important message about animals.

A fun highlight of my party was the Doxie Derby. Good-natured little dogs with tiny legs were eagerly running for medals and hugs. Even a three-legged precious Pomeranian raced with the best of them and did a magnificent job.

Yes, it was a wonderful party for a wonderful cause. And it leaves me tremendously humbled that you support CARES, the animals and me in the extraordinary and loving manner that you do. Please know how grateful I am.
