Taylor Reese scored 16 points and Stratford used an aggressive defense to roll to a 44-11 win over Loganville Christian on Wednesday in the opening round of the GISA Class AAA tournament.
The Eagles (25-3) will play Pinewood Christian at 8:30 p.m. on Friday in the quarterfinals at Tattnall Square.
Stratford held Loganville to one point for the first 12 minutes of the game. It led 17-3 midway through the second quarter when the Lions made their first shot from the floor.
You want to get a lead; you want to feel comfortable, Stratford head coach Ed Smith said. Get some players out of the game, get some other players in the game. Some players are going to have to step up in this tournament that maybe havent done a lot lately. You want to get those girls in the game and get them comfortable in a tournament setting.
The Eagles havent allowed more than 25 points in their past four games, and they have held their past three opponents to fewer than 20 points, a run that includes two region tournament games as well as Wednesdays state playoff game.
Stratford led 15-1 after a quarter and stretched the lead to 21 at the half. The Eagles eventually led by 30 early in the fourth quarter and maintained the lead throughout the fourth quarter.
