Hobby Lobby is about to open the doors to its 27th location in Georgia.

The new store at 5019 Riverside Drive, across from The Shoppes at River Crossing, will officially open at 9 a.m. March 10 with a grand opening celebration, according to a news release.

The Oklahoma-based company announced in September it was building the 50,000-square-foot retail store in north Bibb County.

Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. began as Greco, a miniature picture frames company in 1970. When the business moved from a home garage to a 300-square-foot retail space in 1972, Hobby Lobby was founded. Today, Hobby Lobby has nearly 600 stores in the United States.

Departments include floral, fabric, needle art, custom framing, baskets, home accents, wearable art, arts and crafts, jewelry making, scrapbooking and paper crafting supplies. Store hours are 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday. All Hobby Lobby stores are closed on Sundays.
