When will all the hypocrisy stop, the name calling, the demeaning comments, and the discrimination end? NFL players get by with violent domestic abuse, arrests, stealing, drugging, lying, alleged rapes, questionable character, morals and values, with no reproach, suspensions or comments from the NFL.
Recently, two professional players have revealed their sexuality, being honest and forthright about their homosexuality to their teammates. Youd think they had confessed to being worse than any convicted criminal. The blatant reactions would suggest it is worse than domestic abuses or rape and not as tolerable as the criminal activity that is tolerated in the locker room.
It is no secret how the players have blatantly disrespected women in the past, but are still tolerated in the locker room. I am sure their ignorance is not long term, knowing there have been gay players in every sport for years, but not until now, have they been made public.
The worse ignorant comments are that gays will raise gay babies, its about as absurd as saying heterosexuals do not raise homosexual children. Where do they think they come from, the stork? Their intent may not have been to raise a gay child, but they did. Just when does a human being decide their sexuality? When does a heterosexual decide their sexuality? One thing gay couples do not do is kill unborn babies because they are unwanted and unloved. Instead they want a child like any other married couple, to love, nurture and raise, as well as educate to be a good professional in good standing in the community. It wasnt that long ago when interracial marriages where not socially acceptable. All this hoopla over gay men and women being who they are in our cities, communities, churches, workforce and neighborhoods, doesnt affect anyones daily living or lifestyle. Gay women and men, as well as bisexual men and women and transgendered men and women serve us in public services, government, hospitals and in every profession and in just about every situation in our daily living.
Gay men and women have been in our workplaces, churches, neighborhoods and military services for centuries. Now that some insist on being who they are and being proud and open, they are ridiculed and discriminated against -- especially by the Christians. Imagine how all the heterosexuals would feel if the homosexuals decided who they could love or marry? Just how would the heterosexuals react then? Live and let live. It does not affect me how you worship and believe. It has no influence on my daily living or belief systems at all. I do not and will not judge anyone for who and what they are. Our behavior toward others affects many, like our children, most of all. Where do they get their prejudices from? From us.
Regardless of race, color, creed, religion, national origin or sexual preference, we are all important to our society. Its time we live with our differences.
