Kent: WRHS baseball getting season underway with fundraiser

February 26, 2014

Winter is coming to an end.

I’m not saying this because a Famous Georgia groundhog didn’t see his shadow but because here in Houston County high school baseball has hit the ground running.

One local team that has an incredible opportunity this upcoming season is the Warner Robins High School Demons.

The team is currently selling Atlanta Braves tickets as a fundraiser for its program.

The tickets the Demons are selling are for two specific Braves games -- June 3 against the Seattle Mariners and July 22 against the Miami Marlins. Both games have a start time of 7:10 p.m. Tickets are $6 each.

Along with offering a great price to the public for Braves tickets and earning a little money for their program, participating in the fundraiser will also allow the Demons to play a regular game against First Presbyterian Day School at Turner Field. That game is scheduled for April 19.

The Braves have not issued actual tickets yet, but the Demons have an order form ticket that can be exchanged for the actual Braves ticket at the Demon Diamond sometime about the end of March -- depending on when the Braves issue the tickets.

Quantities of the $6 Braves tickets are limited.

For more information or to order tickets, contact Melissa Crum, treasurer of the Demon Diamond Booster Club at mcrum256j@msn.com or call 706-394-0926.

Another special aspect to the Demons season this year is the continuation of their Military Appreciation Nights that were started last year. Military Appreciation Nights are just part of the way the Demons honor the military’s service to our country. All active duty military will be admitted free to baseball games on Military Appreciation Nights at the Demon Diamond.

Military Appreciation Nights have been scheduled for March 14 and April 4 with more dates expected to be added. The Demons face region opponent Jones County on both those nights, and game time for both nights is 6 p.m.

Along with free admission, there will be other events on Military Appreciation Nights at Demon Diamond including special performances of the national anthem and ceremonial pitches that will be thrown by Robins Air Force Base VIPS and wounded warriors. The Demons even have special camouflaged jerseys to wear on Military Appreciation Night.
