A Perry company is doubling the size of its building and number of employees.

Electric Machinery Industrial Controls Corp., at 504 Valley Drive, is expanding its building from 6,250 square feet to 12,500 square feet, said General Manager Jeff Loewen. The work is expected to be completed within three months.

The company manufactures, sells and services starters for large motors and other equipment used by businesses and governments.

The company was one of the first to help the Macon Water Authority during the Flood of 1994, and “we had a crew there ‘round the clock for months,” Loewen said.

The expansion will allow the company to market and grow the business, he said.

“We haven’t actively marketed this equipment in 15 years,” he said.

The company has 10 employees and will at least double employment this year, he said, It expects to begin adding workers within the next few months.

“Right now we’re in the market for a good electrical engineer with a programmable logic controllers background,” he said.

Anyone interested in applying for a job may send a resume to Loewen by email to or mail it to 504 Valley Drive, Perry 31069. Loewen said he will also go through the Georgia Department of Labor and technical schools in Middle Georgia to find workers.

The company was founded in 1978 in Minnesota. After several mergers and acquisitions, plans were in the works to sell off the Georgia facility. Loewen bought it in 2005.
