Perry hotel fire cause to be determined

The SoHo Inn & Suites in Perry will remain open as investigators determine what caused a fire Tuesday night.

Resident hotel clerk Ravi Patel was at the front desk when someone from a neighboring hotel came in and reported smoke coming from the pool house at about 10 p.m.

Patel called 911 to report the blaze, and Perry firefighters were able to contain the fire to the pool house.

“Right now, the situation is good,” Patel said early Wednesday morning.

The blaze did not affect guests’ rooms, he said, so the business remains open on Valley Drive off Sam Nunn Boulevard.

Investigators from the Georgia Fire Marshal’s Office are expected to try to determine what started the fire, he said.
