The Georgia National Rodeo returns to the fairgrounds in Perry this week.

Cowboys and cowgirls will compete in six events Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Reaves Arena at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter.

In addition to bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, tie down roping, team roping, bull riding and barrel racing, the rodeo also will feature John Payne, “The One Arm Bandit,” and Gizmo McCracken, the rodeo clown.

Points earned at the rodeo, sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, will qualify riders for the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December.

Advance tickets are available online at or at the box office 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday. Prices range from $11 to $20.

Proceeds benefit 4-H and FFA members participating in the Georgia National Junior Livestock Show, which is open to the public Thursday through Saturday, also at the fairgrounds. Admission to the livestock show is free.
