Stroll with Perry mayor, council

Perry Mayor Jimmy Faircloth and City Council invite people to “Walk with Mayor and Council,” beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The event was rescheduled from January because of weather.

People should park in the open lot across from Kimberly BBQ restaurant on Walcott Street. Walkers will travel down Walcott Street, take a left onto Patterson Street, merge back onto Walcott Street, take a right onto Joe Louis Drive and turn right back onto Walcott Street.

Houston Republicans host qualifying

Republicans vying for elected office should qualify with the Houston County Republican Party March 3-7 at 2036 Watson Blvd., Warner Robins.

Times for qualifying are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. March 3-6 and 9 a.m.-noon March 7. Qualifying fees should be paid by cashier’s check or money order made payable to the Houston County Republican Party. For more information, call 478-719-3533.

Partisan seats include the county commission chairman and county commission Post 2 seats, now held by Tommy Stalnaker and Jay Walker, respectively, as well as the State Court clerk’s seat held by Kendra Simons.

The primary election for partisan seats is scheduled for May 20, with a general election Nov. 4.

Byron author publishes daily devotional

Byron author Judy Davis has written her 11th book, “Happy New You: Reading the Bible Through.”

The book is a daily devotional that challenges spiritual growth in daily struggles. Davis has read the Bible through each year for more than 20 years, according to a news release.
