Buzzell: WRLT to present comedy about quirky women

February 19, 2014

Warner Robins Little Theatre is performing “Little Old Ladies in Tennis Shoes” on Thursday-Sunday, Feb. 27-28 and March 1.

The comedy by Sandra Fenichel Asher is directed by Jerry Reppert and tells the story of a quirky group of women.

According to the news release, “Kate Corrigan has her life in order, or so she likes to think.

“In what she describes as ‘not lower middle age’ but ‘upper youth,’ she has a lucrative job, a no-strings-attached man, and a new house in the suburbs.”

“Consider yourselves part of the clutter,” she tells her neighbor.

From there, the story goes on to relate roller coaster friendships, problems of women outliving their husbands and the reality that things maybe aren’t so green on the other side.

The play is produced through special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing.

Another comedy, “That Darn Plot,” will wrap up the WRLT 2013-2014 season. Auditions are March 17-18 with play dates April 25-26, May 1-4 and May 8-10.

The play is written by David Belke, directed by Bill Felton and produced through special arrangement from Samuel French Inc.

“That Darn Plot” is all about the writer and the process of playwriting, rehearsals, rewriting and a look into the life of Mark W. Transom, one of the world’s greatest playwrights, who happens to be at the end of his rope.

Overwhelmed by life and feeling disconnected, he finds himself in the position of having to write a play in one night. Poignant and hilarious with a pull at the heartstrings, this play promises to give a new look at life.
