A 38-year-old Byron woman died Tuesday night after her vehicle collided with an 18-wheeler hauling fuel in south Bibb County.

Brandi Sorrow was pronounced dead at 6:25 p.m. at The Medical Center of Central Georgia, said Coroner Leon Jones. This is the sixth traffic fatality so far this year in Bibb County, he said.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to Hartley Bridge Road near Oakview Club Drive about 5:30 p.m., said Deputy Clay Williams, public affairs officer for the sheriff’s office.

Bibb fatality investigators closed the road for hours as they gathered evidence where Sorrow's 2004 Pontiac Grand Am collided with the fuel truck, Jones said.

The truck driver, whose identity was not initially released, was treated at the scene, Williams said.
