Braves, Teheran agree to contract

February 14, 2014

The Atlanta Braves announced Friday morning they have agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Julio Teheran on a six-year contract.

The contract runs through the 2019 season and includes an option for the 2020 campaign. Financial terms of the contract were not announced.

“We are excited to sign Julio to a long-term contract,” Braves general manager Frank Wren said in a release. “He is one of the best young pitchers in the National League and one of our core of players we expect to be together for a number of years.”

The 22-year-old Teheran is 15-9 with a 3.44 ERA in his career.
