Four players scored in double figures as Florida Gulf Coast cruised to a 99-57 win Thursday night over Mercer in A-Sun womens basketball action.
Mercer fell to 12-11 overall and 5-7 in conference play with the loss, while Florida Gulf Coast improved to 17-7 and 11-1.
The Eagles outshot the Bears 52-40 percent, taking 16 more shots and making 15. The hosts were 13-for-25 on 3-pointers to 5-for-11 for Mercer.
The Bears had 17 turnovers and 12 assists to nine turnovers and 22 assists for the Eagles.
Mercer scored first and was within a bucket through six minutes. But the margin reached 20 with 1:57 left in the half, and the Bears were down 45-24 at intermission. The lead maxed out at 48 with 4:35 left in the game.
Precious Bridges and Taylor McClintock led Mercer with 17 points each, while Teanna Robinson added 11. The Bears got only six points total from Briana Williams, Kendra Grant and Sharnea Boykin.
Mercer visits Stetson, an 87-57 winner Thursday over Kennesaw State, on Saturday.
