‘Birdy’ actor to be special guest at Macon Film Festival

The Macon Film Festival announced Wednesday that actor Matthew Modine will be a special guest at this year’s event, to be held Feb. 27 to March 2.

Modine will headline a special screening of the movie “Birdy,” in which he plays the title character, on March 1 at the Cox Capitol Theatre at 7:30 p.m. The film is about a young man who goes to fight in the Vietnam War.

Modine also will be part of the Art Matters Film Symposium, which will be held at 5:30 p.m. March 1 at The 567 Center For Renewal, 533 Cherry St.
