Woman hits her head during purse snatching

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that took place Monday night at Brookhaven Apartment Homes, 4860 Brookhaven Drive.

According to a news release, at 7:21 p.m., a witness told investigators the female victim was approaching her vehicle when an unknown male ran up from behind and pushed her into the open door of the vehicle. The victim struck her head and dropped her purse.

The witness said the male picked up the purse and ran off. The witness said he chased the male but lost sight of him.

The victim was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia, where she was treated for a head injury and released.

According to the news release, the suspect is a black male, 6 feet tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
