Linda Hennessey, owner
Magical Stitches, 4126 Hartley Bridge Road, Suite 10, 788-0555.
How long have you been in business?: Hennessey first opened her business in Macon Mall five years ago and less than a year later moved to her current location.
Quilting and sewing are in her blood. Her grandmother and great-grandmother were quilters, and Hennessey began sewing clothes and quilting when she was about 4 years old, she said.
What do you like best about your job?: I like meeting people and buying new fabric, she said.
What is your specialty?: The quilt shop has a large selection of cotton fabric. When you are working on a quilt, you want to use quality fabric, she said. You want it to last.
The 3,000-square-foot shop also carries quilting and embroidery machines and sewing accessories. Hennessey teaches sewing classes for children as well as sewing and quilting classes for adults.
Our focus is to try to make quilting fun, she said. We have taken nonquilters who have embroidery machines and have shown them how to incorporate that into quilting.
What are your future plans?: We are just going to keep growing the business, she said. We are going to just be building it up here.
