Bibb deputy fatally shoots dog

A Bibb County deputy fatally shot a dog Saturday after it charged him, according to a sheriff’s office release.

The deputy was called to the Skyview Mobile Home Park on Houston Road after a report of three aggressive dogs in the area, the release stated. The dogs were reported to have been chasing children.

The deputy located the dogs, described as mixed-breed. He notified Bibb County Animal Welfare and exited his vehicle.

The dogs then “aggressively approached him,” the release stated. As he backed away, one of them charged and he shot the dog.

Animal control later arrived and removed the other dogs.

Pit bulls escaped from a pen in the same area in 2013 and attacked a 69-year-old woman.
