A Honda Accord reported stolen Thursday morning was found in a lake adjacent to College Park Apartments on Thursday afternoon.

Bibb sheriff’s deputies found the car after responding to an accident with injuries emergency call about 2 p.m., said Lt. Sean DeFoe, public affairs officer for the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies arrived at the apartments on 3535 Williamson Road in Macon, they found the gold-colored sedan submerged at the edge of a lake.

A witness told an apartment maintenance man the car had been in the water since 7 a.m., DeFoe said.

Macon-Bibb Fire Department rescue divers did not find any accident victims in the lake. They hooked a line to the car, and a tow truck lifted it out. The Accord’s tag and VIN number matched a vehicle reported stolen from Pharr Avenue about 3 a.m. Thursday, DeFoe said.
