Workers from Sunbelt Construction are deep in the process of remodeling space along Zebulon Road in Macon for the new Moe’s Southwest Grill. Bob McCormick, who headed the crew, said the would have a similar Southwestern appearance to the Moe’s off Vineville, “only shinier.’’

Moe’s Southwest Grill is opening a second Macon restaurant on Zebulon Road this spring.

Substantial renovations are underway now at 6255 Zebulon Road, Suite 260 in the former Caliente space, which closed in October.

The fast-casual restaurant is expected to begin serving its Southwest fare by late March or early April, said franchise co-owner Ray Yarbrough. The 2,600-square-foot restaurant will have a patio.

“We’ve been looking for a Zebulon location,” he said. “Macon is moving out this way, and we felt like we needed a presence out there.”

Moe’s expects to hire about 25 people for the new store beginning in March, and anyone interested in a job may apply at Moe’s existing restaurant at 3111 Vineville Ave. This location will remain open.

Founded in Atlanta in 2000, Moe’s Southwest Grill has more than 500 locations in the United States and abroad.
