Signing Day Breakdown: Pittsburgh

sports@macon.comFebruary 6, 2014

Signees: 23

Georgia Ties: Despite joining the ACC, Pitt has developed a recruiting foothold in Georgia quite yet, but it’s probably not a priority with talent-rich Ohio and Pennsylvania within driving distance. Three to watch:

Alex Bookser, OL, 6-6, 295, Pittsburgh

Bookser picked the Panthers over offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State and Tennessee, marking a huge recruiting coup for Pitt head coach Paul Chryst.

Adonis Jennings, WR, 6-3, 185, Clementon, N.J.

He caught 83 passes for 1,434 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior, earning first-team all-state honors from The Star Ledger in Newark.

Elijah Zeise, ATH, 6-2, 185, Wexford, Pa.

Zeise earned all-state honors after catching 49 passes for 952 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was also a standout defensive back and the No. 10 overall prospect in Pennsylvania, according to 247Sports.

Grade: C, The Panthers signed nine players from in-state and another four from Ohio, which is a good sign with both being talent-rich areas. Only two of the signees were ranked four-star prospects by 247Sports.
