SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Torrey Craig scored 25 points, 16 in the first half, as USC Upstate snapped Mercers eight-game winning streak, 80-61 on Sunday.
Craig made 10-of-18 shots, including three 3-pointers, for USC Upstate (13-10, 6-4 A-Sun). Ricardo Glenn added 17 points, 11 coming from the free-throw line, and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Spartans. It was Glenns fourth straight double-double. Jodd Maxey added 10 points.
Mercer (18-6, 9-2) was led by Anthony White Jr. with 12 points and Darious Moten had 10. The Bears made just 21-of-60 from the field, including 5-of-23 from 3-point range, their lowest shooting percentage (35) of the season.
USC Upstate has now won four straight, and the Spartans win was their first over Mercer since 2009. The loss was Mercers first since Jan. 1.
The Bears are off until Friday when they travel to Kennesaw State. The Bears have a half-game lead over Florida Gulf Coast in the conference standings.
