Mary Persons’ do-everything senior Akebren Ralls has committed to Kennesaw State.

Ralls made two All-Middle Georgia teams and was a two-time all-state selection.

He helped lead Mary Persons to a 29-8 record over the past three seasons, a span that included four playoff wins.

He played primarily in the secondary for the Bulldogs, but saw snaps at tailback and receiver as a senior. He was also a lethal kick returner.

Ralls had 36 tackles and four interceptions as a senior and added seven touchdowns on offense and three kick return touchdowns. He had eight other touchdowns called back for penalties. Ralls was named the Region 2-AAAA all-purpose player of the year.

Ralls also received interest from Ball State, Charleston Southern, Charlotte and Georgia Southern.

Kennesaw State was on quite the roll, as Griffin quarterback Jaquez Parks also committed to the Owls. Parks, who had offers from Air Force, Harvard and Mercer, was named the Georgia Sportswriters Association All-Classification Player of the Year after leading the Bears to the GHSA Class AAAAA state title. He passed for more than 300 yards and rushed for more than 200 in the championship game win over Carrollton.

Kennesaw State will begin football in 2015, competing in the Big South Conference.
