Macon buses to stop early Tuesday; Wednesday service undecided

Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority buses will stop running early as a winter storm closes in, MTA Operations Manager Jade Daniels said at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The last bus will leave Terminal Station at 6:40 p.m., and buses will return to the garage at 8 p.m., she said.

On Tuesday night, if the Salvation Army shelter at 1955 Broadway fills up, the bus service will coordinate with the Macon-Bibb County Emergency Management Agency to offer a shuttle van between the shelter and Memorial Park Gym, 763 Long St., Daniels said.

Bus drivers are asked to report to work Wednesday at 10 a.m., but office staff and supervisors should come in at 8 a.m., she said. MTA staff will survey streets between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. to decide if buses will run Wednesday, Daniels said. That decision will be announced to local media.
