Fighting with his girlfriend and getting shot at was the beginning of Matiuanna Johnson’s troubles that landed him in jail Monday night.

The 42-year-old Macon man was arguing with his girlfriend about her daughter’s boyfriend, Tevin Sams, just before 11:15 p.m. Monday at 3931 Phelps Drive, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

As Johnson was driving away, Sams allegedly opened fire on the car and hit Johnson with a bullet that didn’t penetrate his body, the release stated.

Paramedics treated Johnson at the scene and deputies arrested 20-year-old Sams, of Lizella.

Sams was charged with aggravated assault and booked into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Deputies also realized Matiuanna had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, so he was taken to jail and booked on a probation violation and the State Court bench warrant.

Anyone with information is urged to call the on-call sheriff’s investigator at 751-7500.
