Four pedestrians and three parked vehicles were hit by an SUV after its accelerator became stuck Friday morning.

Stanton McClure of Macon was driving a 2005 Ford Escape out of a building near 1090 Riverside Drive when the accelerator became stuck, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release. He struck four people and the three parked vehicles in the parking lot before he was able to get the SUV stopped.

Marcus Birt, 42, of Gray, and Fred Nelson, 66, of Fayetteville, were taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia with minor injuries, and both are in stable condition. The two other pedestrians, Stephen Keadle, 46, and Charlie Cantriell, 54, both of Macon, were treated at the scene and released.

No charges were filed against the SUV’s driver.
