The streets of Macon and Bibb County claimed 31 lives last year in 29 fatal accidents investigated by three different agencies.

Nine of the 22 people killed on Macon streets were pedestrians. Ten were drivers, and the other three were passengers in the city’s 20 fatal accidents, according to statistics released Thursday by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

No pedestrians died outside the former city limits in 2013’s seven fatal accidents being investigated by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating two more accidents that happened within the boundaries of Bibb County, said Lt. Sean DeFoe, public information officer for the sheriff’s office.
