Walden named grand marshal of Cherry Blossom parade

The Cherry Blossom Festival announced Tuesday that Alan Walden will serve as grand marshal of the Geico Pinkadelic Parade.

Walden is a member of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame as a co-founder of Capricorn Records and promoter of the band Lynyrd Skynyrd. He also helped develop the careers of Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, Percy Sledge and Etta James, among others.

The parade will take place March 23 in downtown Macon.
