Macon man and woman die from Sunday house fire

A man and woman injured in a house fire Sunday morning have died.

The woman, 80-year-old Virginia Jones, died at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta shortly before midnight, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said.

Her husband, 83-year-old Henry Jones, died at 12:48 p.m. Monday, Jones said.

The fire hit their east Macon home at 2400 Bristol Drive about 7 a.m. Sunday, Jones said. They were taken by helicopter to the Augusta burn center.

There was no early sign of what may have caused the fire, Jones said. Fire investigators are still investigating.

Bristol Drive is located off Millerfield Road.
