St. Josephs to host open house
St. Josephs Catholic School, 905 High St., Macon, will hold an open house at 1:30 p.m. Sunday with refreshments. The school is currently accepting applications for the next school year and welcomes children of all faiths in 4K-sixth grades.
Tours also are available on school days by appointment and each week during Walk Through Thursdays from 9-10:30 a.m.

Bibb schedules pre-K registration
Bibb County schools will launch pre-kindergarten registration with an event Feb. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Welcome Center, 2003 Riverside Drive, Macon. Parents can register their children then and participate in educational activities.
Open registration will follow the event from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays through Feb. 28 at the center. To register, bring the childs certified birth certificate, Social Security card and proof of residence, which can be a current telephone, gas, water, electric or cable bill.
The school system has 748 pre-kindergarten slots for children who will be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2014. Parents must register their child for Pre-K at the Welcome Center. Children may attend Pre-K classes at either their neighborhood school or Northwoods Academy.
Students will be selected by a random computer lottery. Parents of accepted students must attend an orientation before the school year, or their childs slot will be given to the next student on the waiting list.

Bibb school board calls meeting
The Bibb County school board will begin a called board meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in its fourth floor board room. The board originally called the meeting to finalize a brochure for a superintendent search based on results of a survey, but the meeting also includes a closed-door session to discuss personnel matters, property acquisition and pending litigation.
Houston Sharks hoops schedule released
The Houston County Sharks team is gearing up for its basketball season. The home games will be played Feb. 8 and Feb. 22 at 11 a.m., and Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. All home games will be at Bonaire Middle School.
